We should just have pancakes for Kim’s birthday now…
I'm all out of words
I have been banging my head against a 3000 word essay all week, but wanted to share these photos. The wind was tearing the leaves off the trees today and they were blowing about like confetti. I don’t remember such vivid Autumn colours in NZ, but maybe I just wasn’t looking. Kumiko told me that Japan is off the scales awesome in Autumn. I would like to see that one day.

I don't mind the weather
The walk to college was beautiful this morning. It was frosty and the sun was sitting low in the sky. I feel closer to the day when walking. One definite advantage of not having a car, is that it forces me to make time to walk, changes up the pace. We caught up with David (and surprised him, also taking frosty photos) and John.
The low light showed my surroundings in a new way, caused me to see things with a different perspective.
I feel like this week at college has had a similar effect. Generally uneasy with the word ‘prophecy’, Tony brought grounding and expansion (explosion?) of the tiny box that concept had occupied for me. Living prophetically, what would that look like? More holistic? I don’t want to compartmentalise my faith.

On our second day in the UK, Helen took us for a field trip to the Derby tip which has a special section for ‘Hardcore and Rubble’. What a great name for a band or a blog (already taken unfortunately)…

The Down Side
Moving to the other side of the world is funny business, especially the UK. Some things are similar enough not to feel the distance (supermarket brands, cars on the same side of the road, people can understand what I say most of the time), while other things are just awful, like being really far away from your family and friends.
The internet makes up for a lot, but it’s hard to just ‘hang’ over skype. I miss my peeps.
I love these photos of Kylie, David and Otis, taken just before we left Wellington. Kim is sneaking in some cuddle time too.

Christmas present
It’s now only 10 weeks until Christmas and I’m having difficulty comprehending the declining weather. It’s messing with my understanding of the world and how it operates. Winter should be followed by spring and then summer not another winter. Enough winging, I am going to fight this madness with fitness and try and keep the additional winter kilos at bay.
Goal: to lose 5 kilos by Christmas (I have lovingly sent myself some jeans by sea mail which currently will be of no good to me) and to lose 10cm where it counts.
Merry Christmas.

As part of our church placement in Kidlington, we are invited to eat with different families each week for lunch. Our last lunch was a treat, plenty of plasticine and sylvanian family goodness. There was even a real hedgehog named Harry (or Harriet) living under the slide, which was part of a permanent pirate ship in the backyard.
