The Holiday: New Years Eve

Ha! These posts are becoming more and more sporadic. At this rate I’ll get to the end of our four day holiday by next month! We left Belgium for the Netherlands and ended up in Amsterdam for New Years Eve. A beautiful car journey through the islands (though I must admit I was asleep for most of it - hopeless at staying awake on long car rides) and we stopped off at the coast for the view.

I love this photo.

This photo is dedicated to my sister, who loves McDonalds second to only to working at McDonalds. It’s just the same there sweet pea!

We walked into town and made it to some bridge in the centre for the fireworks. Expecting some kind of official display, we instead walked into a kind of chaos I have never experienced, large fireworks on every corner, crackers being thrown into the street and smoke filling the air. All we could do was laugh.

After the festivities we found an open pizza parlour, but didn’t expect to be making our own dinner. Maria and I were proud to be the first women in the kitchen in 2011. True, and it rhymes. And the pizza was better for it it, I’m sure.

Bon Appetit x
