We are now officially on our Easter Holiday! Chill-axing at Sarah’s place in Derby, with the sun streaming through the windows. I asked Kim if maybe we should go outside, but he he just replied with ‘we have things to do’, which is true. Computer things. Blog things. Which are almost our favourite things. Sarah gave me some photos from my last visit in March when we went to see Iron and Wine, which was also about the last time I posted anything - time for a catch up!
The Iron and Wine gig was phenomenal. It was in Birmingham at the Town Hall and couldn’t have been further from our experience at Wolverhampton. We were seated, the venue was beautiful and no-one threw beer over us. Daniel Martin Moore was supporting (I had never heard of him before - he made me instantly care about the Appalachian Mountains), and Iron and Wine (Sam Beam + others) produced something like sonic perfection. They played songs from their new album, and mixed up older, more well known tunes in a fresh way. I have never seen so many different instruments used for one gig (there was a roadie dedicated to bringing out the guitars) and his sister provided the perfect backing vocals.
Good live music is like a balm for the soul. I felt really refreshed after this visit - it may have also had something to do with it giving me a four day weekend too.
